MEET STUART MORRIS

Hi, my name is Stuart — a passionate artist and photographer based in Suffolk, England. Welcome to my website, where I invite you on a journey of colour, the natural world — both seen and unseen — and an expression of the Human Spirit.

The work I produce is rooted in nature and developed from a fundamental connection with the patterns, cycles, and rhythms of the natural world which are innate within all of us as human beings.

I have always been driven by a desire, an inherent NEED, to paint and create. In fact, I can't remember a time, a holiday, or even a day when I haven't felt compelled to express myself through art.

I want my images to transform environments, inspire minds, and create feelings of happiness and intrigue. My pieces are all about joy, beauty, colour and life — they are at essence a celebration of the cosmos!

If you are interested in purchasing any of my work, either as an original (if available) or in custom-sized print, please get in touch. I am always happy to hear from you.

MY MOST RECENT WORK

ABOUT MY INSPIRATION

When I look at the work I have created over the years I often think Where has this all come from? What has compelled me, time after time, to risk life and limb to find the perfect rock to paint? To carry — come rain, wind, or shine — totem poles, coloured shapes, and bags of paints through muddy fields and overgrown woodlands, or across craggy coastal rock faces, battling against the crashing waves, just to capture the perfect shot?

The honest answer is I just don’t know — it’s something beyond words, beyond thought even; it just flows through me, and always has done, almost as though I don’t even have a choice.

INDIGENOUS PATTERNS & COLOURS TRANSCEND SPACE & TIME.

THEY CONTAIN WITHIN THEM THE VERY ESSENCE OF LIFE.

"COLOUR! What a deep and mysterious language, the language of dreams."

MY CREATIVE PROCESS

Most of my finished pieces are on large scale canvas. They often begin as smaller multimedia collages built in layers. Image, pattern, and colour combine to create these pieces. They intend to create a mood of past, present, and future. Abstract images are interwoven with the symbolic. Techniques, forms, and pattern are combined and unified to create fantastical landscapes rooted in places visited. Translated into the imaginary and alive with primitive references. An illusion to the unimaginable mystery of the universe.

IMPACT

andSCALE

I want to create art that is transformative for people and their environments, impacting both the viewer’s physical space and internal landscape by opening up a passage to a hidden part of their Self. This is what I mean by transformative.

I feel that the power of my pieces often comes initially from their size. They feel colossal because of their dimensions combined with the force of their colours. I want to reflect in my work the contrasts inherent in nature, and one of these is the combination of heroic scale with delicacy of execution.
